A Common Industry Standard (CIF) Usability test was performed on the Joomla Administration panel which focused on some basic tasks users are expected to achieve as part of using the CMS.
The following hardware and software were used to perform the test.
- Windows 10 Desktop
- Google Chrome Version 52
- Screencast-O-Matic
- Joomla 3.6
All participants were placed in the same test environment.
Using Screencast-O-Matic, user movements on the browser were recorded along with filming their facial expressions. Sound equipment was used to record discussions between the user and moderator.
Test Procedure
Each test was approximately 1 hour long and followed the following format.
- Participants were asked to read and sign a consent form.
- Participants were asked to complete a Participant Profile Questionnaire
- Task began with recording equipment bring activated and Joomla test website will be provided.
- Six tasks are set with content to be created made available for the participant.
- On completion of the task all recording was stopped and the participant completed a post-test questionnaire.
